Nov. 5, 2009 Conservation Commission Meeting Minutes Meetings of the Con Com shall be on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00pm at the Proctor Library in Ascutney. Members present: Gary Pelton (President), Chris Harris, Tina Wood (Treasurer), and MaryBeth Reville Meeting called to order at 7:00pm. Minutes of the Sept. 3rd meeting were approved. The payment of dues of $50.00 to the Vermont Conservation Commission was also approved. Tina will send the payment. Gary reported that he had been asked by deForest Bearse to visit the site of a proposed subdivision on the property owned by Bruce Murray. Mr. Murray's surveyor, Gary Rapanotti, wanted advice about the presence of a deer wintering area on the property. No plan has been submitted to the zoning board for this subdivision as yet. A discussion followed concerning the appropriateness of a site visit taking place before we really know all the details of the plan. Might this set a precedent for "pre- visits" that would result in multiple Conservation Commission trips to a property? Everyone agreed that this was not our job. It was decided to ask deForest to come to our next meeting, if possible, to discuss site visits and clarify"pre-visits". We then spent time reviewing the maps provided to us by April Harkness at the June meeting. We again noted that we would like to have bodies of water added to the Significant Natural Resources map and the Wild life Suitability and Corridor Ratings mop. Removing the green shading on the Soils map was suggested. If possible we would like to have two sets of larger maps for the group. Gary agreed to meet with April and explore changing some layers of the maps. The meeting was adjourned at 8:50pm. The next scheduled meeting will be Dec. 3rd. Respectfully submitted by MaryBeth Reville in the absence of Secretary, George Ainley |
