Jan. 5, 2012 Meeting Minutes of the Conservation Commission of Weathersfield, VT. Meetings are on the first Thurs. of the month . Meetings will be at the Proctor Library in Ascutney until further notice. Members present: Chairperson Gary Pelton, treasurer Tina Wood, Chris Harris, John Broker-Campbell and MaryBeth Reville The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm In the absence of minutes from the Dec. meeting Gary gave a brief synopsis of that meeting. There was a presentation of the Linking Lands Alliance by two members of that group. It is a group of upper valley towns working to address natural resource issues that transcend town borders. It especially is interested in identifying and preserving natural habitats and connecting lands that support wide-ranging wildlife species. Plans were made for the "Animal Tracking" Workshop to be held on Jan. 22nd at 1pm at Martin Memorial Hall. This will be an indoor presentation in preparation for an outdoor workshop to be held on Feb. 25th at 1pm at the Weathersfield Conservation Area. Gary will prepare a slide program. John will make flyers to be posted around town. Press releases will be sent to local papers. Refreshments will be available-cookies, brownies and drinks. Tina will have the information made available to be in the newsletter at the Ascutney school as we hope students there will be interested in participating it these workshops. MaryBeth will send our annual report to the Upper Valley Land Trust Conservation Commission for use at their Gathering on Tues. Jan.31st. Tina reported that the VT Youth Conservation Corp is looking for projects. Gary will find out what kind of things they will be interested in doing in our area. Chris gave a report on his site visit to the Kelly farm concerning a subdivision of 5 acres to be kept by the Ascutney Fire District #2. There are 2 well heads on this parcel of land. There are no conservation objections to this proposal. Agenda for next meeting. 1. Approve minutes of Jan. 5th 2. Firm up plan for tracking workshop on Feb.25th 3. Other business. 4.
