Meeting Minutes
Sept. 25, 2007
Committee Members
Present: Chip Cobb Edith Stillson Fred Mellish
deForest Bearse Lisa Sargent Bob Dickinson

1. Approve minutes from the last meeting: August 28, 2007
Fred Mellish motioned to approve the minutes of the August 28th meeting as presented. Bob Dickinson seconded the motion and all were in favor.

2. Funds drive activities
(a) All the mums have been sold with a profit of $631.50. Lisa Sargent made a motion to pay $622.50 to Claussens for the mums. Bob Dickinson seconded the motion and all were in favor.

(b) The chicken barbeque will go forward as planned on October 6th from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM at the Town Office. It is time to start advertising. Members will put up posters and notify newspapers and SAPA TV. Fred Mellish will make a wooden sandwich board to put posters on the Ascutney green. Several items will need to be purchased ahead of time including the chicken, divided plats, "to go" containers, plastic tableware, hot/cold cups with lids, and charcoal. Lisa Sargent made a motion to pay an amount no greater than $270 to Ascutney Market for the purchase of the chicken. Edith Stillson seconded the motion and all were in favor. The committee agreed to let Lisa purchase other supplies as needed and deduct the expenses from the money made at the barbeque. Set up was scheduled to start at 8:00 AM.

3. Other Business
Copies of the final easement have been hand delivered to Lorraine Zigman for the Church to review and sign.

Concern has been expressed that the monument may be placed in the highway right-of-way owing to the narrowness of the site. Fred and deForest will investigate. (second request)

Bow Association Offer
Peter Reitzas of the Bow Association has spoken to the Town Manager about the possibility of donating the open space land in the Bow to the Town for use as a park or recreation area. The $25,000 could possibly be put toward upkeep and upgrading of the site, with some funds dedicated to the Veterans Memorial and some funds placed in a money market account for interest. It remains to be seen whether the rest of the Association will agree with these ideas.

If the right-of-way question on the Perkinsville green becomes an issue, then the Committee could consider the Bow Association site as an alternative.

Senator Sanders
Chip has been in contact with staff from Bernie Sanders office. His staff wil notify us when it is time to complete applications for federal funding.
Karl Swenson
Karl Swenson approached Chip with questions about the cutting of the stone for the monument. Mr. Swenson cut the stones for the Springfield Memorial. He was asking to be considered for the Weathersfield monument. Chip explained that we were somewhat committed to Aaron, but that we could consider re-visiting the matter.

McDerments
Chip asked deForest to check in with the McDerments to let them know how the project is progressing.

8. Comments from attendees

9. Next meeting date selection
The next meeting will be held on October 30, 2007 at 7:00 PM in the Town Office.
