WRaPP Weathersfield Recreation and Prevention Programs Courtney McKaig 263-5393 / cccmckaig@hotmail.com March Update Introduction to Pilates - First Session begins Tuesday, March 11, 7 - 8 p.m WES. Instructor Bob Hannum is an Advanced Certified Pilates Instructor. Pilates is an excellent exercise that efficiently builds core strength. Class size is limited, please sign up ASAP. Drop-In is available when the class is not full, please call in advance. Classes are $10 for one class per week or $15 for two classes per week. The sessions will run for five weeks: week one (March 11 & 13), week two (March 17 & 20), week three (March 25 & 27), week four (April 1 & 3 ), week five (April 8& 9). Please bring a yoga mat or blanket and wear loose comfortable clothing. Bob Hannum will also be teaching an intermediate/advanced class at the Weathersfield Inn, Tuesday/Thursday, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., beginning March 18, for 5 weeks. The cost is $119 for the session, $99 for the session for members of Curves of Springfield. This is an FYI, and not sponsored by WRaPP. Snow Shoe Hikes – “Leap into Snow Shoes on Leap Day†hike, February 29 was great fun, with 14 participants, ages 5 - 50 years!! Several more hikes are scheduled, hopefully the weather will cooperate and the snow pack will hold up: Saturday March 8, 2 p.m., Friday, March 14, 3:30 p.m., and Thursday, March 20, 8 p.m. for a Full Moon Hike, all hikes start from WES. Please call in advance to reserve snow shoes for the hikes. Also, snow shoes can be borrowed anytime, call Courtney Mckaig 263-5393 to reserve. Nordic Walking- A great exercise which burns more calories, decreases impact on lower body joints, and assists with core strength is available with BJ Esty, Nordic Walk Group Leader. She will instruct in the use of the Nordic Poles and take interested persons out Mondays, March 10, 17, 24 & 31 at 4 p.m., or at a mutually convenient time. Help Wanted: Group Leaders - WRaPP has funds to support Peer Group Leaders in promoting the activities they already do to their neighbors. Are you a walker, hiker, cross country skier, snow shoe enthusiast? If you do these activities on a regular basis and are willing to put a few extra minutes into encouraging others, you can be paid for your efforts. Please contact Courtney Mckaig for more details.
